PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing a chemical which includes a separation membrane module having durability in repetitive steam sterilizing treatments, thereby allows maintenance of high productivity over a long period of time, and reduces the amount of wastes even when the module is replaced.;SOLUTION: There is provided the apparatus for producing the chemical including: a fermenter for carrying out conversion from a fermentation raw material into a fermentation culture liquid containing the chemical by fermentation culture of a microorganism; and the separation membrane module for recovering the chemical from the fermentation culture liquid as a filtrate. In the apparatus for producing the chemical, the separation membrane module is a cartridge type separation membrane module provided with a cylindrical case; a separation membrane cartridge; and a sealing member, and the separation membrane cartridge is housed in the cylindrical case in a state of non-bonding and non-fixing to the cylindrical case. The sealing member is disposed so as to air-tightly and fluid-tightly seal between a space where the fermentation culture liquid is passed and a space where the filtrate is passed in the separation membrane module.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
