PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 4-vinyl phenol polymerizable compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof having excellent physiological activity such as anti-cancer activity, and to provide an anticancer agent, a lipase inhibitor, an anti-obesity agent, a skin disease therapeutic agent and the like comprising the compound or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.;SOLUTION: The polymerizable compound represented by a dimer or a trimer of 4-vinyl phenol or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound is produced by heating p-coumaric acid under an alkali condition.
