PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire rod for a spring excellent in wire drawing processability and fatigue property after wire drawing, and to provide a steel wire excellent in fatigue property and spring processability.;SOLUTION: This wire rod for the spring is characterized by containing: not lower than 0.50% and lower than 0.70% of C; 1.0 to 2.5% of Si; 0.50 to 1.50% of Mn; 0.5% or lower (including 0%) of Cr; 0.0010 to 0.0050% of B; 0.005% or lower (not including 0%) of N; 0.020% or lower (not including 0%) of P; 0.020% or lower (not including 0%) of S; 0.03% or lower (not including 0%) of Al, and 0.0020% or lower (not including 0%) of O.
