PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems; phrase pairs with various particle sizes cannot be learned and inappropriate phrase pairs are learned.SOLUTION: A bilingual phrase learning device which learns a number of appropriate phrase pairs comprises; a symbol acquisition part acquiring one symbol if it tried to acquire a phrase table and a phrase pair but could not acquire them; a partial phrase pair generation part generating two phrase pairs smaller than a phrase pair, if the phrase pair has not been acquired; and a new phrase pair generation part generating a new phrase pair according to the acquired symbol, generating a new phrase pair made by joining two phrase pairs in order or generating a new phrase pair made by joining two phrase pairs in reverse order. The bilingual phrase learning device performs these processes recursively, calculates a score against each phrase pair in a phrase table and stores the score in association with each phrase pair.
