PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily generate wordbook data without degrading learning efficiency.SOLUTION: An electronic dictionary 1 comprises; a flash ROM 80 storing multiple dictionary databases 820 having multiple entry words; a subject-based retrieval object table 87 storing one of the dictionary databases 820 as a retrieval object dictionary database 820T for each subject; and a CPU 20 acquiring text data 851 from outside and detecting a subject of the text data 851. The CPU 20 detects each word included in the text data 851, detects the retrieval object dictionary database 820T corresponding to the subject of the text data 851 and extracts words which exist in the retrieval object dictionary database 820T as entry words from the detected words. A wordbook table 86 associates the words extracted by the CPU 20 with the subject of the text data 851 and stores them.
