PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input device for allowing a user to easily re-input a necessary character in a deleted character string, a character input method, a character input device control program and a recording medium for the character input device control program.SOLUTION: The inventive character input device includes: an input unit 11 for receiving character input and character deletion input; a display unit 12 for displaying a character input by the input unit 11; a deleted character information storage unit 13 for storing deleted character information deleted in response to the deletion input by the input unit 11; and a control unit 14 for determining whether character information input by the input unit 11 matches at least part of the deleted character information stored in the deleted character information storage unit 13, and controlling the display unit 12 to display the part of the deleted character information as an input candidate when determining that the character information matches at least part of the deleted character information.
