PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a boron-containing carbon material, with which compared to the conventional art, lower resistance can be achieved by the modification treatment of a carbon material, and to provide a low resistance boron-containing carbon material produced by the method.SOLUTION: The method for producing the boron-containing carbon material is characterized in that, for example, a mixed material 7 of a carbon material and boron or a boron compound is heated in a discharge plasma sintering machine (SPS) 1, in a state of passing an electric current through the mixed material 7, to thereby dope the carbon material with boron.
