PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means to expand design freedom dramatically by easing strict restrictions among a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a rotor and a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a stator, in a spherical stepping motor and a spherical AC servo motor.;SOLUTION: The problem mentioned above is solved by placing permanent magnets at division points of edges in a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a rotor, and placing electromagnets at division points of edges in a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a stator. The multipolar spherical stepping motor and the multipolar spherical AC servo motor include a rotor with permanent magnets placed at vertices of a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a sphere and at division points of arcs corresponding to edges connecting the vertices, and include a stator with electromagnets placed at vertices of a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a sphere including the sphere of the rotor and at division points of arcs corresponding to edges connecting the vertices.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
