PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make use of original shape designability and color designability of an irregular and color-patterned base material and to freshly bestow shape designability and color designability on it after sufficiently protecting the base material in formation of the coating material film.;SOLUTION: In a method of forming designable coating film, the irregular and color-patterned base material is coated in advance with an aqueous coating material containing an aqueous synthetic resin emulsion, a color pigment, carbonate or sulfate as a body pigment, and an urethane associative thickener so as to make at least a part of irregularity of the base material recognizable and to have a film thickness equal to or exceeding a concealing film thickness to form the coating material film, the irregularity is formed on at least a part of the coating material film by a pattern roller having irregularity on its surface while the coating material film is not dried to change the film thickness, whereby the part of the coating material film is formed to have a film thickness equal to or less than the concealing film thickness.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
