PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimization support device for reducing useless calculation, thereby shortening a calculation time. PSOLUTION: This optimization support device is provided with: a system having characteristics corresponding to a plurality of limiting elements; a first sampling generation means for generating a plurality of samplings obtained by combining the limiting elements and characteristics of this system; a means for hierarchically clustering the samplings based on the similarity of the characteristics; a means for comparing the limiting elements of each of the clustered clusters between the same or different layers; a means for extracting the common limiting elements between the respective clusters among the limiting elements from the comparison resu a means for setting the target characteristics; and a second sampling generating means for generating the sampling on the basis of the extracted common limiting elements. It is determined whether or not the characteristics of the sampling generated by the second sampling generating means are the optimal sampling satisfying the target characteristics, when determined as the optimal, the pertinent sampling is outputted as the optimal sampling.
