PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately discriminate whether or not an exterior shape meets safety standards for collision in designing an exterior member that forms the exterior of an automobile. PSOLUTION: An automobile design support apparatus includes: a first shape model construction means 1 for constructing a shape model of an exterior member that forms the exterior of an automobile; a specific area setting means 3 for setting a specific area based on data about the exterior member shape model constructed by the first shape model construction means 1; a second shape model construction means 4 for constructing a shape model of an inner member located inside of the specific area; a movement amount computing means 5 for computing the amount of movement of the specific area that the area moves before interfering with the inner member upon contact with a contact element; a degree-of-influence computing means 6 for calculating a degree of influence which the contact element undergoes upon contact with the specific area on the basis of a preset scale table; and a display means 8 for displaying the degree of influence computed by a degree-of-influence computing means 6.
