PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat-storage agent and a heat-transfer medium which are inexpensive and have a high latent heat, and a method for producing them.;SOLUTION: The heat-storage agent comprises tri-n-butyl-n-pentylammonium chloride and water. The heat-storage agent essentially comprises tri-n-butyl-n-pentylammonium chloride hydrate. Tri-n-butyl-n-pentylammonium chloride in the heat-storage agent is synthesized by replacing bromium in tri-n-butyl-n-pentylammonium bromide with chlorine in an anion exchange resin, wherein the tri-n-butyl-n-pentylammonium bromide is synthesized from tributyl amine and 1-bromopentane.
