PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for drilling an elastic foam, which apparatus can improve the straightness of a through-hole and the machining accuracy of a drilled position by preventing the displacement of the elastic foam in the direction perpendicular to the compressing direction when the elastic foam is compressed.;SOLUTION: Side shift preventing projected streaks 22a are formed on the upper surface of the supporting plate 22 of a case body 21 for retaining the foam W. Side shift preventing projected streaks 28a are formed on the lower surface of a lid plate 28 for restricting the position of the upper surface of the elastic foam W. The foam W is compressed by moving a movable compression plate 34 in the compressive direction (Z axis) in the state that the foam W is held between the lid plate 28 and the upper surface of the supporting plate 22. In this case, the foam W does not displace in the lateral direction (X axis) perpendicular to the compressive direction (Z axis) by means of the side shift preventing projected streaks 22a of the supporting plate 22 and the side shift preventing projected streaks 28a of the lid plate 28. Therefore, the foam W can be properly compressed, and the straightness and the machining accuracy of the drilled position of the through-hole of the elastic foam W formed by a drill 47 can be improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
