PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a helicopter satellite communication system, capable of providing more high quality helicopter satellite communication by permitting the variation of information rate, and a helicopter-mounted communication device employed therefor. PSOLUTION: Transmission data, such as video, voice or the like, are compressed and encoded by a data compression encoding circuit 6 to modulate the transmission data, compressed and coded by a modulator 7, and they are transmitted to the communication satellite through a transmitter 8 and an antenna 9. An interruption timing, generated by the interruption of an antenna beam turned to the direction of the communication satellite by a rotary blade, is estimated through an interruption timing estimation circuit 10.
