PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fine niobium oxide slurry and fine niobium oxide powders having less coagulation and a sharp particle size distribution. ;SOLUTION: The fine niobium oxide slurry can be produced by wet pulverization adding a dispersion medium into the niobium oxide powders. The fine niobium oxide powders are produced by a drying treatment of the slurry. In the slurry and the powders, a ratio of a residual quantity on a sieve screen mesh of 45 μm at a wet sieving test exhibits a specific value or less and a ratio of particle diameter distribution denoted as D90/D10 is 10 or less.
