PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tantalum oxide powder and niobium oxide powder which do not solidify when they are housed in a container and shaked but which shows a favorable compacting property on compression forming.;SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the tantalum oxide powder or niobium oxide powder having a low solidifying property is carried out by adding an ammonia solution to a specified solution of a tantalum fluoride solution or a niobium fluoride solution, controlling the temperature and the pH of the solution to specified ranges after the addition of the ammonia solution, separating a produced hydroxide by filtration, washing the product with a diluted ammonia solution, pressing and filtering to obtain a hydroxide cake, roasting the obtained tantalum hydroxide cake at a specified temperature and then pulverizing. The tantalum oxide powder and the niobium oxide powder obtained by the above method have smooth rheological characters which are not conventionally obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
