PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for specifying faulty point of a cable capable of precisely specifying the generation point of short circuit accident regardless of noise components variable concerning with time.;SOLUTION: The specifying device 1 specifies grounding fault generation point in the parallel laid cables 20.1 and 20.2. The end parts of the conductors 22.2 and 22.1 are electrically connected via the jumper line. The specifying device 1 impresses prescribed DC voltage between the conductors 22.1 and 22.2 of the starting ends of the cables 20.1 and 20.2, and at the same time the ground voltage between the ground potential GND and respective conductors 22.1 and 22.2 are simultaneously measured. The noise component contained in the grounding voltages measured by the voltage measurement parts 10.1 and 10.2 respectively are thought to be same approximately at a certain time, therefore they are canceled to each other and generation of errors are inhibited.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
