PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical material safe as a material for artificial organs such as artificial skin or as a wound-covering material, and high in tissue regenerative ability as well, and to provide artificial organs, wound-covering materials, etc. each using the medical material. PSOLUTION: A fiber 50-500 nm in average diameter comprising a chitosan/sericin composite is prepared by electric field spinning process. A fiber mat made of the fiber is useful as an artificial skin, a wound-covering material or the like, and as a medical material such as a scaffold for regenerating various organs including the skin, capillary, cartilage and bone.
