PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium material with a low ion elution property, and hardly depositing titanium oxide, that is, having low contact resistance even after power generation, most suited as a raw material for a separator of a solid polymer fuel cell, to provide its manufacturing method, as well as a separator and a fuel cell using the same. PSOLUTION: A titanium material for a solid polymer fuel cell separator with a thickness of its surface oxide within the range of 5 to 25 nm, an average carbon density within a depth range of 10 nm from the outermost surface including an oxide layer of the titanium material of 0.02 to 6 at%, an average nitrogen density of 0.02 to 6 at%, and a fluorine density in the oxide of 7 at%, its manufacturing method, as well as a separator using the titanium material, and a solid polymer fuel cell using the separator are provided.
