PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate complicated control of a detector by acquiring confocal images of high resolution.;SOLUTION: A confocal microscope comprises: a light scanning means 2; an array device 4; a linear beam generation means 3 for linearly imaging illumination light L1 on the array device 4 by extending it in a direction intersected to a scanning direction of the light scanning means 2; an objective lens 5 for imaging the illumination light L1 reflected or transmitted on the array device 4 on a specimen A; a beam splitter 6 for separating detection light F from the specimen A from the illumination light L1 between the array device 4 and the light scanning means 2; a two-dimensional imaging means 7 for imaging the separated detection light F; and a control device 8 for controlling the light scanning means 2 and the array device 4. The array device 4 is arranged in optically conjugate position relationship with a focal face of the objective lens 5.
