PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil improving method which exerts ground consolidation effect in a wide range, and maintains cementation (chemical effect) by calcined lime over a long period of time.;SOLUTION: According to the soil improving method, by reversely rotating an earth auger 5 and applying a vertical load W that is an axial force in the vertical direction, a horizontal force is applied to aggregate 12 and calcined lime 14, and therefore the periphery and interior of an excavated hole 11 are consolidated and the calcined lime 14 is moved to the periphery of the excavated hole 11. Further the particle size of the calcined lime 14 is larger than that of the aggregate. According to the method, a sand pile 15 made of mountain sand in the excavated hole 11 is created in the ground to urge the consolidation effect, and by using a series of chemical reactions triggered by the calcined lime 14 moved to the periphery of the excavated hole 11, interstitial water, and soil particles around the same, the ground consolidation effect is exerted in a wide range, and cementation can be maintained over a long period of time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
