PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of highly accurately correcting a color shift in a short time, and to provide a color shift correction method and a color shift correction program.;SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: a writing unit 9 for forming a plural of color images on a transfer belt 3 in an overlapped state, and also, forming a correction pattern for correcting positional deviation of each color on the transfer belt 3; detecting sensors 15 and 16 and a pattern detecting part 19 for detecting the correction pattern, a correction amount calculating part 20 for obtaining the skew deviation of the writing unit 9 and other color shift amount based on the detected correction pattern, and calculating the correction amount to correct the obtained color shift of each color; a writing control part 22 for controlling the writing unit 9 based on the calculated correction amount; a skew correction motor control part 23; and a judging part 31 for determining the number of times of correcting the color shift based on a prescribed condition, then, correcting the color shift by the determined number of times.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
