PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber type corrosion detecting device and the like, capable of detecting corrosion in the parallel direction of bottom of a river, applicable to a large corrosion depth or a corrosion length, and also reducing the cost.;SOLUTION: When horizontal corrosion occurs at a shelf section (flood channel) 103 of a river 101 caused by high flow and the like, since the blocks of the corrosion detector 111 exposed to water flow topple down by drag of water flow or empty weight to separate from remaining blocks, an optical fiber 13 is forced by tension at the separated position to be cut off by the knife edge of a cutter, an OTDR 112, which monitors loss of propagating light through the optical fiber 13, can sense the cutoff to measure the length of corrosion depending on the number of blocks.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
