PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light quantity adjusting mechanism which has a simple constitution, is low in cost and can conduct continuous light control and to provide an illumination unit having the mechanism and a microscope having the mechanism or the unit having the mechanism.;SOLUTION: The light quantity adjusting mechanism has a transmission light quantity control member 14 which has a plurality of fine louvers 14bnthat are arranged on the illumination optical axis with an equal interval and a tilt control means that tilts the transmission light quantity control member 14 for a prescribed amount to the direction along which the angle between each of the surfaces of the fine louvers 14bn and the illumination optical axis is to be changed. Each of the surfaces of the fine louvers 14bn is inclined for a constant angle with respect to an incident surface 14a of the transmission light quantity control member 14. Diffusion plates 13 and 15 are provided on the incident side and the transmission side of the transmission light quantity control member 14. An illumination unit 1 has an illumination light source 11, an optical member 12 which makes the emitted light beams from the light source 11 into a parallel luminous flux and the light quantity adjusting mechanism.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
