Catalyst of formation of H2O2, method for the production of a catalyst, and process for the formation of H2O2. A catalyst effective for the direct reaction of hydrogen and oxygen to form hydrogen peroxide comprises particles of gold, palladium or, preferably, gold and palladium deposited on a support is washed with acid.Surprisingly, the high selectivity for the production of hydrogen peroxide is observed, with low decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. The catalysts have a period of life extended.
