ENERGY CROPS FOR IMPROVED BIOFUEL SUPPLY STOCKS. The present invention relates to improved systems and methods for reducing costs and increasing yields of cellulosic ethanol. In particular, the present invention provides genetically transformed plants for increased biomass, expression of lignocellulitic enzymes, and simplification of downstream harvesting and processing. Methods are also provided for the use of these transgenic plants in the production of clean, marketable food stocks for the production of renewable and chemical fuels, and other applications, including phytoremediation.
