The invented point-distance method of analyzing image sequences of a space-changing object according to the present invention comprises the following steps: a) first the image sequence containing N object photographs is read into a computer unit interconnected with a display unit and an input device; b) subsequently at least two similarities suitable for monitoring space changes of the object are entered in a reference photograph of the image sequence via said input device; c) the computer unit will then locate in each of the entered similarities at least one significant point having a high luminance gradient relative to its surroundings; d) the computer unit will compute in each subarea the center of gravity of the significant points and subsequently will determine a mutual Euclidean distance of the computed centers of gravity; e) the computer unit finds in each next photographs of the image sequence new positions of the initially selected significant points and the step d) is carried out; f) distances determined for the individual photographs are then displayed onto the display unit.
