Methods and systems are presented for characterizing drilling fluids containing LCM (mud control materials). The test chamber (106) for fluid analysis is equipped with a conical inner part (306) and an axial positioning device (304) placed along the axis of the test chamber. The conical plug (302) is connected to an axial positioning device and can be moved into and out of the conical interior along the axis of the test chamber. A fluid inlet is located in a first place of the test chamber and a fluid outlet in a second place.
