Conjugates comprising a drug and a ligand containing a first saccharide are provided, which are characterized in that after their administration to the mammal at least one pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic characteristics of the conjugates depend on the serum concentration of the second saccharide. Exemplary conjugates and sustained release formulations are provided in addition to the methods of use and preparation.
