MODIFIED NI-BASED ELECTROCATALYSTS USED AS CARBON TOLERANT ANODES FOR SOFC ESPECIALLY WHEN THE MODIFICATION IS BEING REALIZED VIA CHEMICAL DEPOSITION-PRECIPITATION OF THE DOPANT INTO THE UNMODIFIED ANODE
We now provide a new electrocatalyst (specifically a new SOFC anode) that comprises of nano - sized particles of Au uniformly dispersed on NiO/Gd0.1C0.9O2 powder, while it is prepared with the deposition - precipitation method. This new electrocatalyst is quite effective in terms of carbon tolerance. In addition, the gold modified NiO/Gd0.1C0.9O2 anode of the present invention shows excellent electrocatalytic activity. Consequently, it would find application as a functional anode, which can operate under steam or dry reforming conditions with high carbon tolerance, within the temperature range 550-900°C, in the Solid Oxide Fuel Cells field.
