METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR NOTIFYING AVAILABILITY OF FEMTOCELLS TO AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE

A method and system for notifying availability of femtocells to an electronic device is provided. The method includes determining a fingerprint for each of the femtocells by a base station of a macrocell. The method also includes maintaining fingerprints of the femtocells by the base station. The method further includes notifying the availability of the femtocells to the electronic device based on corresponding fingerprints. The system includes a macrocell. The system also includes the femtocells in vicinity of the macrocell. The system further includes the electronic device that receives notification of the availability of the femtocells. Moreover, the system includes a base station in the macrocell to notify the availability of the femtocells to the electronic device.
