An apparatus for measuring grip strength and pinch strength applied by a user to a hand grip dynamometer (100) that includes a circular rod (102) having a first beam and a second beam, a horizontal slot (104) which separates the beams. A notch (106) coupled to the beams induces a strain in the first beam or second beam at a region of the notch (106) based on user"s grip strength and pinch strength. A strain gauge (108) connected to the region of the notch. Resistance of strain gauge changes due to induced strain. A Wheatstone bridge is connected to strain gauge through a wire (110), which generates a signal comprising a voltage due to change in resistance of strain gauge. An amplifier amplifies voltage obtained from the Wheatstone bridge. An ADC that converts amplified signal to a digital signal. A LCD displays a digital value and a load value.
