The invention pertains to method and device for determining the moisture content of liquids, gases and multiphase materials by their absorption coefficient and dielectric constant, which are measured by operating in a mode of standing waves coaxial transmission line completely filled with the test substance. The signal generator and a measuring circuit are connected to one of its ends. In order to reduce the influence of the static conductivity, measurements are made at frequencies from 800 to 5000 MHz. For reducing the influence of the input circuits measurements are made at frequencies of minimum input impedance of line. In order to improve the range and reduce the influence of the parameters of the test substance, determination of humidity is determined both by the absorption coefficient and by the dielectric constant which are measured at several resonant frequencies of the line. The device can be made as a cut of short-circuited line or open at the end one, and can also be designed as a submersible probe for measurements in the pipe or tank. Method and device offered are used, particularly in the technology of controlling water content in non-aqueous process fluids for the measurement of thevalue of free water in the crude oil and gas condensate, as well as for the measurement of the value of free water in the saturated water steam. Method and device can also be used for the measurement a value of polar substances in nonpolar solvents, for example, a solution of ethyl alcohol in benzene. Flow chart of device in comformity with claim 1 and 5 is shown in Fig. 4 and 5, accordingly.
