The present invention relates to use of ultrasonography in determination of the need for surgery, particularly in chronic pancreatitis patients. The method provides the determination of size of pancreatic head and diameter of pancreatic duct, presence of calcifications and/or pseudocysts in ultrasonogramm of the pancreas.
