Tracking motion capture markers according to their position in a shape defined by a group of markers

A method of tracking a group (150) of motion capture markers (140A, 140B, 140C) in a sequence of frames, the steps of which include establishing a group relationship among a plurality of motion capture markers (140A, 140B, 140C) in a current frame and labelling the plurality of motion capture markers (140A, 140B, 140C) as a group (150) using the group relationship, wherein the plurality of motion capture markers (140A, 140B, 140C) forms an inherent shape and each one of the markers (140A, 140B, 140C) is identified by its position in the shape. This group relationship, along with shape analysis performed on the group (150), is used to label a plurality of unlabelled motion capture markers in a next frame to substantially minimise incorrect marker labelling.
