BLOOD GROUP ANTIGENS OF DIFFERENT TYPES FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS

Disclosed is a method for determining the presence of anti-blood group antigen reactive antibodies in serum of a subject, said method comprising: (a) providing a collection of blood group antigens coated onto a solid surface; (b) adding a serum sample from said subject to said blood group antigen coated solid surface; (c) incubating said serum and said blood group antigen coated solid surface for sufficient time for anti-blood group antigen reactive antibodies in said serum to bind to said blood group antigens; (d) incubating said solid surface with at least one labelled ligand capable of specifically binding with said anti-blood group antigen reactive antibodies bound to said blood group antigens; and (e) detecting the presence of labelled ligand bound to said anti-blood group antigen reactive antibodies to determine the presence or absence of said reactive antibodies; wherein the collection of blood group antigens comprises one or more blood group antigens selected from the group consisting of: A type 1 GalNAcá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1,3GlcNAcâ1-R, A type 2 GalNAcá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1,4GlcNAcâ1-R, A type 3 GalNAcá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1,3GalNAcâ1-R, A type 4 GalNAcá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1,3GalNAcâ1-R, B type 1 Galá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1, 3GlcNAcâ1-R, B type 2 Galá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1,4GlcNAcâ1-R, B type 3 Galá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1,3GalNAcâ1-R, and B type 4 Galá1,3(Fucá1,2)Galâ1,3GalNAcâ1-R; wherein R represents the point of attachment to said solid surface.
