A temporary bridge made of a number of bridge elements. In a first non-deployed position the bridge elements are superimposed on each other in a stack. Each bridge element has a coupling surface adapted to cooperate with the coupling surface of an adjacent bridge element for assembling the bridge elements into a bridge when they are placed end to end in a second deployed position. Each bridge element is hingedly connected to an adjacent bridge element by a pair of connecting arms positioned parallel to, and rotatably fixed to the sides of the bridge elements. The displacement of a bridge element relative to an adjacent element in the stack in the first non-deployed position requires a circular translational movement of the bridge element relative to the adjacent bridge element immediately below it in the stack. The temporary bridge includes an added-on trackway.
