Disclosed is a hot dip alloy-plated steel material having on at least a part of its surface an alloy with a high glass forming ability as a plating layer, wherein said alloy comprises: 20 to 30 atm% component A) selected from at least one element consisting of Silver, Aluminium, Gold, Copper, Nickel, Silicon and Zinc, where Zinc is the main constituent of A, and Zinc and Aluminium make up a total of 20 to 30 atm% of the alloy composition; 67.5 to 79.7 atm% component B) selected from at least one element consisting of Lithium, Magnesium and Tin, where Magnesium makes up a total of 67.5 to 79.7 atm% of the alloy composition; and 0.3 to 2.5 atm% component C) selected from Calcium, Lanthanum and Yttrium, where Calcium makes up a total of 0.3 to 2.5 atm% of the alloy composition; and wherein in said plating layer, a volume fraction of 5% or more is an amorphous phase.
