A towing apparatus for transferring a portion of a load to the front of a towing vehicle

Disclosed is an apparatus for transferring load between a towing vehicle and a towed device. The apparatus includes a shock absorber. The towing vehicle has front and rear wheels and a tow assembly including a tow bar. The towed device includes a drawbar which attaches to the tow bar of the towing vehicle. The apparatus includes a load transfer mechanism which attaches the towing vehicle and towed device. The load transfer mechanism is configured for adjustably transferring at least a portion of the load of the towed device to the front of the towing vehicle in a region leading the front wheel axle via the shock absorber. The load transfer mechanism transfers the remaining portion of the load of the towed device to the rear of the towing vehicle.
