The invention relates to optically selective absorbing materials of the Cu/CuO/NiO type, with and without anti-reflex layer of TiO, used for solar-thermal conversion, to a plant applying the thin layers and to a method for carrying out the same, by using the pyrolysis atomization. According to the invention, the materials () consist of at least 10 individual layers of CuOor NiOor combinations thereof with or without the anti-reflex layer () of TiOapplied onto a Cu substrate () and have high optical selectivities S 15. The claimed plant consists of the thermostat controlled stove plate (), a carrier gas source consisting of a compressor () with pressure regulator (), an automatic application system (), an adjustable table base () supporting the stove plate () and an atomizer () equipped with calibrated nozzle (). The claimed method consists in forming an aerosol () consisting of a precursor solution () dispersed into the gas (), spraying the aerosol () onto the heated Cu substrate () at a rate of 150 mm/s from a spraying height () ranging from 150...300 mm under a spraying angle () of 45°, the temperature necessary for applying thin CuOlayers in the range of 240...260°C, for NiOin the range 300...330°C and for TiOof 330...350°C, the Cu substrate temperature being the same as that of the applied material and the employed carrier gas being dry and having a pressure in the range between 1.2...1.5 bar.
