The invention relates to a system of radar investigation in the vertical plane which can be used in the assessment of defects, lack of structure homogeneity and conservation condition of historic buildings. According to the invention, the system comprises a fixed vertical framework (1) supported by two supporting brackets (6) on which there slides a mobile support (2) within which a GPR-type (Ground Penetrating Radar) radar scanning device (7) is mounted and which is fixed to a multi-strand steel cable (5) guided at its top part by a pulley (3) and driven at its bottom part by an electric hoisting gear with an incremental rotation transducer (4), the system being controlled by a computer (8) intended for acquisition of data containing the information provided by the GPR radar device and the vertical position thereof at the recording moment, the investigation provided thereby being contactless, non-invasive and non-destructive as regards the vertical walls of the building to be assessed.
