A method for the laparoscopic plastic surgery of large and giant hernias of the esophageal hiatus provides for the use of synthetic mesh graft. When the angle between the cruses of the diaphragm exceeds 90 degrees, the plastic reconstruction comprises two steps. First, cruses are sutured with the synthetic mesh behind the esophagus, and then they are sutured in front of esophagus with synthetic mesh.
