METHOD FOR BIOINDICATING ATMOSPHERIC AIR POLLUTION WITH THE AID OF LICHENS AND INVERTEBRATES RELATED THERETO

A method for bioindicating atmospheric air pollution with the aid of lichens and invertebrates related thereto comprises determining the area of lichens on a substrate with the aid of a net frame. From thallome of the lichen a part of thereof of an area of 0.8÷1.2 cmis separated, it is placed thereafter to a sterile packing and moistened with 8÷12 ml distilled water. Further shredding of the thallome up to homogenous mass is carried out and it is left in the packing for 2-3 hours. Then 0.9÷1.1 ml of the mixture is taken of the obtained mass, microscopic examination is carried out and quantitative indices of invertebrate organisms of a certain species, which are capable of coming out from the state of anabiosis at moisture treatment, are determined, then numbers thereof per 1 cmof the thallome of lichen are calculated.
