METHOD FOR SURGICAL TREATMENT OF POSTOPERATIVE VENTRAL HERNIA WITH THE AID OF POLYPROPYLENE MESH

A method for the surgical treatment of postoperative ventral hernia with the aid of polypropylene mesh comprises the access to the hernial orifice, the dissection of postoperative cicatrix and excess of the adjacent skin and subcutaneous tissues, the separation and the cut of the hernial sac, the separation of the peritoneal organs from the walls of the hernial sac and the edges of the hernial defect, the partial or complete dissection of the edges of the hernial orifice, the mobilization of the peritoneum from muscular-aponeurotic structures around the edges of the hernial defect. Then the polypropylene mesh is placed preperitoneally, fixed to the edges of the hernial defect. The tube for vacuum drainage is located adjacent to polypropylene mesh. The muscular-aponeurotic structures of the edges of the hernial defect are sewed with the separate sutures. Finally, the skin and subcutaneous tissues are sutured layer-by-layer. The peritoneum is mobilized to the costal arches and the long muscles of the back. The polypropylene mesh is also fixed with separate sutures to the periosteum of the costal arches and to the long muscles of the back.
