The invention relates to the field of analytical chemistry, in particular to the methods for reveal and semi-quantitative determination of ions of cation surface-active substances in waters for different purposes. The method proposed includes transfer of CSAS present in water sample with chromogenic reagent to dyed ion associate (IA) with simultaneous sorption of the last one on a tablet of foamed polyurethane with shaking solution and with following visual semi-quantitative determination of content of CSAS in water through comparison of color of the sorbed IA to reference scale. Solution of chromogenic reagent is prepared before of mix of brompyrogallic red, sodium molibdate, malonic acid, glucose and sodium sulphate at given component ratio. Interval of concentrations determined by the method is from 0,25 to 2,0 mg/ dmCSAS from volume of water sample 10 cm. The method claimed makes it possible to simplify and shorten substantially the procedure of analysis, and differs with higher sensitivity (compared to prototype) and makes it possible to apply it for testing in extra-laboratory conditions.
