The invention relates to mineral processing and can be used to separate the dump raw into coal concentrate and building material. A method of separating coal dumps of mines and processing plants includes mixing initial raw material with water to form a slurry of water and coal, further hydraulic classification, dewatering fine particles of coal and extraction of clay and return of waste water in the process cycle. According to the first invention, at formation of water-coal slurry the density of the solution is continuously monitored with adjustment of its density by adding water to the solution to meet the specified constant density, and prior to hydraulic classification mechanical classification of coal concentrate is carried out and followed by enrichment of fines. A complex of equipment for separation of coal dumps of mines and processing plants comprises a mixing tank with a drain, a tribological hydraulic separator comprising a rotating cylindrical perforated casing, an unloader of washed large particles of coal and a storage tank of ash water solution. According to the second invention, a mixing tank is made with a bottom inclined toward the drain and has an inclined conveyor and a device for adjustment of slurry density and a drain directed to a screen, under which a storage tank of water solution of ash and fine fractions of coal is installed, which is connected through a pump to a hydraulic cyclone. The complex has a second screen for screening small coal fractions with a storage tank and a settling tank. Technical result: improving quality of the separation process of coal dump, adjustment of the ash content of coal concentrate, improving the quantity of a valuable mineral component - clay.
