A method for manufacturing at least one layer (1) of the surface of a multilayer finishing piece (2), whose layer (1) of the surface has a front side formed at least partially by a first part (5) of the surface , which has a first color, and by a second part (6) of the surface, which is located at least partially against the first part (5) of the surface and which has a second color different from the first color, the method comprising the steps of: - providing a mold (8, 9) with at least one surface (10) of the mold, comprising a first part (11) arranged to produce the first part (5) of the surface layer (1) , and a second part (12) which is located at least partially against the first part (11) of the mold surface (10) and which is arranged to produce the second part (6) of the surface layer (1) ; - applying a layer of a material (14) that forms the first layer, which is hardenable and has a first color, on the first part (11) of the surface (10) of the mold while leaving the second part (12) free from the surface of the mold to apply on it a layer of a material (16) forming the second layer; - apply the layer of the material (16) that forms the second layer, which is hardenable and has the second color, on the second part (12) of the surface (10) of the mold and at least partially on the rear part of the layer of the material (14) that forms the first layer, the layer of the material (14) forming the first layer having an edge (20) located below the layer of the material (16) that forms the second layer; - allowing the layers of the materials (14, 16) that respectively form the first and second layers to harden to produce a first layer (21) and a second layer (22) against the surface (10) of the mold that respectively form the first (5) and second (6) parts of the surface layer (1); and - removing the layer (1) from the surface produced from the surface (10) of the mold, characterized in that the layer of the material (14) that forms the first layer is applied by placing the material (14) that forms the first layer on the surface of the mold or applying the material (14) that forms the first layer from a distance of less than 20 mm on the surface of the mold such that when the material (14) that forms the first layer is applied on the first part (11 ) of the surface (10) of the mold at least a part of said edge (20) is formed without the intervention of a mask; and a layer of a material (18) that forms the third layer, which is hardenable and has a third color that is substantially the same as the first color, is applied on a third part (13) of the surface (10) of the mold , which is separated, at least locally by the first part (11) of the mold surface, from the second part (12) thereof, and the layer of the material (18) forming the third layer is allowed to harden to produce a third layer (23) that forms a third part (7) of the surface of the surface layer (1), which is separated at least locally by the first part (5) of the surface layer, of the second part (6) of the surface thereof, the layer of the material (18) forming the third layer applied on the surface (10) of the mold being applied before applying the layer of the material (14) which forms the first layer, in which case the material (14) that forms the first layer is applied at least partially on the back of the layer of the material (18) that forms the third layer, or after having applied on it the layer of the material (14) that forms the first layer, in which case the material (18) that forms the third layer is applied at least partially on the back of the layer of the material (14) that forms the first layer.
