A prion binding ligand, in which the ligand is a peptide having an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of: PKHIWP; HKLWGV; GGYKPY; and HTYYNG; wherein the ligand can bind to a peptide having the amino acid sequence DRYYRD (SEQ ID NO: 2); and in which the ligand has a molecular weight of less than 6 kDa.
