Intraocular lens (10, 30, 42, 64, 74, 80, 90) comprising: an optic (12) having an anterior surface (14) and a rear surface (16), each of said surfaces a region Central refractive (18) to provide power refractive focus optics, and a diffractive annular region (20) disposed on one of said surfaces to surround at least partially the central refractive region of that surface in order to provide a power diffractive near focus and a diffractive focusing power of distance, characterized in that the central refractive region (18) of the anterior surface (14) and the rear surface (16) of the optic have a substantially spherical profile and are monofocal and are adapted to provide a single refractive power far-focus, and wherein the size of the lens is selected so that a first pupil size lens is a monofocal lens with a poten cia corresponding to the refractive power of the far focus provided by the central refractive region, and increasing the size of the pupil focus, the lens is a multifocal lens, directing the annular diffractive region varying amounts of light energy diffractive powers focus of near and far, said diffractive region comprising an annular (20) a plurality of separated from each other by a plurality of steps diffractive zones (24), increasing the height of said steps (28b) increase as a function of a distance growing a center of said optic.
