A composition for use in the preparation of a carbon dioxide gel for external use that is used to prepare a carbon dioxide gel for external use that includes carbon dioxide dissolved in the same non-bubble substantial form and comprising the granular material (A) and the following viscous material (B): (A) a granular material that includes a weak acid, a dispersant and a calcium ion trapping agent as essential components, and (B) a viscous material that includes calcium carbonate, a gelling agent gelled by calcium ions and water as essential components.
